The Puerto Rico Department of Housing notifies that despite of the temporary federal government shutdown, communications with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development are continuing. Although there are restrictions to the full functioning of HUD, they remain working with us side by side, providing technical assistance and remaining accessible. Due to the temporary federal government shutdown, the Action Plan Amendment for $8.2 billion approval has been deferred, as was stated in the Federal Register Notice published on January 9th, 2019 (www.cdbgdr.pr.gov/en/reference-material/). Likewise, the original portfolio of programs under the initial allocation for $1.5 billion remains on schedule for initiation.
The Puerto Rico Housing Department successfully celebrated four (4) training meetings with the municipalities, on January 9 and 10, 2019, distributed in 2 sessions, 9am to 12pm and 2 to 5 pm. The purpose of these trainings was to provide all the municipalities with the necessary information to be able to participate as a partner in the process of inspection and orientation for the citizens for the Home Repair, Reconstruction or Relocation Program, also known as R3.
